El trabajo analiza el comportamiento estructural de la famosa torre londinense del arquitecto Norman Foster. El proceso metodológico seguido consiste en estudiar en primer lugar el pensamiento y las directrices de la arquitectura de este reconocido arquitecto para así entender la obra y ubicarla en su contexto histórico.
A continuación, se realiza una simplificación del edificio mediante un modelo estructural coherente y válido que permita analizar su comportamiento ante diferentes esfuerzos de carga mediante el programa de cálculo Architrave. Así se obtienen conclusiones que permiten ser aplicadas a edificios de tipología estructural similar.
La tipología estructural empleada es la conocida como ‘tubo dentro de tubo’. Un tubo exterior denominado Diagrid, y otro tubo en su interior llamado Core. Este sistema estructural presenta diversas ventajas sobre todo para edificios de oficinas. El sistema estructural exterior es el encargado de resistir los esfuerzos horizontales y compone la estructura principal de la torre. Bajo el sistema interior se encuentran los servicios y la comunicación vertical.
The work analyzes the structural behavior of the famous London tower of the architect Norman Foster. The methodological process followed consists of studying first the thought and the guidelines of the architecture of this renowned architect in order to understand the work and locate it in its historical context.
Next, a simplification structural model of the building is carried out to analyze its behavior faced with different efforts of load by Architrave program of calculation. It leads to conclusions that can be applied to buildings of similar structural typology.
The structural typology used is called 'tube in tube'. An outer tube called Diagrid, and another tube inside called Core. This structural system has lots of advantages, especially for office buildings. The outer structural system is the charger of resisting the horizontal stresses and composes the main structure of the tower. Under the interior system are services and vertical communication.
